The Trump Administration was told that separating children from their parents causes significant and lasting harm — they want to do it again anyways.

Every decade since 1790, as required by the Constitution, the federal government has undertaken a painstaking census of its people, the accuracy and fairness of which serves the interests of both political parties and of every citizen. The decennial count is used to apportion seats in the House of Representatives and set the boundaries of congressional districts.

There are two separate issues identified in this post.  First are gun dealers selling illegally to individuals who have failed or would fail a background check.  Second are individuals lying on background checks and never facing punishment for it which encourages them to keep lying to try to buy a gun.

First, on gun dealers who have a vital role to play in stopping gun crimes. For some, what appears to be missing are the will, the competence and the incentives to play that role well.

Since Jeff Sessions became Attorney General, the question has not been 'if' but 'when' he would take action to enforce Federal laws contradicted by legalized recreational marijuana use laws in eight states and Washington DC.  Smart Dissent reported on this back in February 2017.

There's quiet things happening that make no headlines. Even Smart Dissent's team which consumes the news nonstop can miss something minor like this.  There will be no rallies for this issue but it's important to realize just how much is being changed by Trump's cronies.

Trump has issued an executive order that gives federal agencies far more latitude over hiring administrative law judges. These judges handle a wide variety of disputes that include everything from Medicare claims to civil service employment issues.

There is so much evil being perpetrated by Republicans taking full advantage of their unchecked power.  Those who have watched their actions and listened to their rhetoric for many years aren't shocked.  With complete power, Republicans like Jeff Sessions are acting out their wildest dreams.  The shock is primarly that millions of people support them and are either too stupid to see our nation being dismantled or too evil to care.

Trump hates his own Justice Department Attorney General Jeff Sessions.  In fact, in early June it was reported Trump won't even say Sessions' name anymore.  We hate Sessions as well.... and Trump too.

And they hate women, particularly abused women seeking to escape from extreme danger.  This is just unbelievable, like so many things going on right now.

Betsy DeVos is destroying the Department of Education and in turn our students and future.  The Education Department has issued a new manual allowing officials to dismiss hundreds of civil rights complaints, basically because it would be a lot of work to evaluate all of them.  There's so many complaints that it's best to just ignore them all.  That's what DeVos and her cronies think.  Disgusting.

There has been some confusion recently regarding TWO SEPARATE immigration issues related to children arriving at our border seeking asylum.  The one about "missing" children is alarming but actually not as bad as it sounds.  

In our August 15, 2017 post linked HERE, we provided a primer that explained what DACA is and why it exists after President Obama's 2010 DREAM legislation was filibustered by Republicans in Senate to prevent a vote.  

On Tuesday, September 5, 2017, Attorney General Jeff Sessions shut down DACA.  He provided lies about these people to justify the move, offered no details of how the program could be wound down, and took no questions (because he has no answers).
