Trump Thought Yelling at Drug Makers Would Cut Prices; With Election Over They're Raising Prices Of Course

One of Trump's repeated promises (lies) during the campaign was to go after pharmaceutical companies and take action to lower prescription drug prices.  Why would a White House owned by corporate interests do such a thing to help the American people?  Turns out they won't, bowing to powerful industry as usual over the interests of the people they were elected to represent.

Blue Wave Recap: Marijuana Legalization in Michigan, Missouri, Utah

The Blue Wave on November 6, 2018 included so much good news it was difficult to process it all.  Over the next few weeks, Smart Dissent will attempt to recap the progress we made together including well-publicized topics and less covered ones.

Our seventh post focuses on marijuana legalization votes which passed in several states, something long overdue, considering two-thirds of people support legalization per a recent Gallup poll.

Blue Wave Recap: Medicaid Expansion Wins Big

The Blue Wave on November 6, 2018 included so much good news it was difficult to process it all.  Over the next few weeks, Smart Dissent will attempt to recap the progress we made together including well-publicized topics and less covered ones.

Our third post is that Medicaid won BIG with ballot initiatives passing in several states and new governors elected in other states who are in favor of it.

Three states voted Tuesday to expand their Medicaid programs, which will extend coverage to an estimated 325,000 low-income Americans.

White House's Anti-Socialism Report Inadvertently Makes Case For Single-Payer Healthcare

If you're reading this web site, you pay attention to the news closely otherwise you never would have found us.  Thanks for that.  It also means you're smarter than most and are constantly infuriated by the stupidity of certain "leaders" of our country and the people who support them.

Here's an example of this stupidity that makes us want to scream.

Trump Administration Launches New Attack On Healthcare for Pre-Existing Conditions

Republican candidates up for election on November 6th have undertaken a surprising strategy for their hatred of healthcare for our people.... LYING.  Instead of facing their repeated votes and endless efforts to destroy the already-fragile healthcare system, they deny it all.  They claim with a straight face, along with Trump, that they're all for maintaining healthcare for pre-existing conditions.  They say they are the ones protecting us.  WHO ON EARTH IS STUPID ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THESE LIES?

The Person Trump Just Hired to Lead Medicaid Worked Hard to Block its Expansion in Maine

Only the best he said, only the best.  Apparently working for Trump ain't what it used to be.  Instead the swamp Trump campaigned to drain is multiplying in size with some of the worst people possible.

Former Maine health commissioner and Republican gubernatorial candidate Mary Mayhew has been tapped by the Trump administration to lead Medicaid, the health insurance program that covers more than 70 million low-income Americans.

NOT A DRILL: Republican Congress Admits They Are Coming For Your Social Security and Healthcare. VOTE THEM OUT.

The GOP agenda, in 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Cut taxes on corporations and the rich, increasing deficits

Step 2: Induce panic about high deficits, cut health care spending for the poor and elderly in response

Step 3: Repeat

Tax cuts reduced corporate tax revenue by almost a third even though corporate profits are through the ceiling. If Republicans win, they will push a “grand bargain” - no corporation pays a penny more but Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security will be on the chopping block.

WE CAN NOT ALLOW THIS.

Trump’s EPA is Working to LOOSEN Radiation Limits

The Trump administration continues to target as many regulations as they can that were intended to protect us but might cost some companies money.  For example, toxins and pollutants that cause significant health concerns or DEATH including coal power plant emissions and car exhaust, are regulated for necessary reasons.  Trump and Republicans don't care because their corporate overlords tell them it's costly and burdensome for businesses.

E.P.A. to Eliminate Office That Advises Agency Chief on Science

After Scott Pruitt's disgraceful period destroying the Environmental Protection Agency came to an end, his right-hand-man Andrew Wheeler took his position and has been doing the same work but more quietly, quickly, and effectively.   Wheeler, a former coal lobbyist, is overseeing a "reorganization" of the agency according to the EPA.  We know the truth - he's destroying it just like Pruitt was.
