As part of the president's overhaul of immigration enforcement efforts, the White House expanded deportation priority to anyone who immigration agents can find. Residents who receive any government aid, including free school lunches, are now at risk of immediate deportation. Millions of workers in a myriad of industries are at risk of deportation, breaking up families and destroying businesses.

Multiple Republican Senators are still undecided regarding the upcoming confirmation vote for Betsy DeVos' nomination to head the Department of Education. Senators Collins (R-ME) and Murkowski (R-AK) have announced their intentions to vote no. If every Democrat plus these 2 Republicans vote no, Vice President Pence will break a 50-50 tie to confirm. Only 1 more Republican Senator needs to vote no.

In another move distancing the United States from our NATO allies, the Trump administration national security officials are seeking information on a non-existant threat against Belarus from NATO-ally Poland.

According to one U.S. official, national security aides have sought information about Polish incursions in Belarus, an eyebrow-raising request because little evidence of such activities appears to exist. Poland is among the Eastern European nations worried about Trump's friendlier tone on Russia.

A sweeping executive order leaked to news sources earlier in the week which would clear the way for the C.I.A. to reopen overseas “black site” prisons, like those where it detained and tortured terrorism suspects before former President Barack Obama shut them down.  Fortunately, the leaked document prompted immediate outrage from both parties, a theme we can only hope continues on many other matters.
