Around $150 million in student loans will be cancelled in accordance with an Obama-era rule that is being implemented by the Department of Education after over a year of Betsy DeVos trying to block it.

The Department of Education said Thursday that it would wipe away student debt for 15,000 borrowers, implementing an Obama-era rule that Betsy DeVos has fought to block for more than a year.  The debt cancellations will total about $150 million.

Scott Pruitt is gone and now so is Ryan Zinke.  That just means their headline news of corruption has ended but the destruction of our environment pushes ahead with full force, stronger than ever.  Despite a public dialog on climate change and our future more than ever before, Republicans continue to eliminate every environmental regulation possible to benefit corporations who lobby them.

As the Republicans and the Trump administration continues their assault on anything that the Obama administration did, Secretary of Agriculture (USDA) Sonny Perdue set his sights on school lunches almost two years ago.  Back in MAY 2017, we posted that Perdue's Republican-led USDA was postponing rules to make school lunches healthier.

Federal authorities have arrested 170 immigrants who came forward seeking to sponsor migrant children in government custody.... They were the result of background checks conducted on potential sponsors of unaccompanied migrant children placed under the care of the Department of Health and Human Services.
