About Us

Informed and engaged citizens provide the best path to a thriving society.

Smart Dissent delivers straight-forward, concise information about what our government is doing, so that you can stay well-informed and dissent more effectively.

All posts by Smart Dissent are about serious matters, which could immediately or eventually have major impacts on our nation. We want to clarify the issues that matter most to you, and we’ll suggest specific concrete ACTION that can be taken in opposition or support. We’ll tell you which congressmen/women are on the fence about a certain issue and let you know the best way to get in touch with them to share your voice.

We must STAY ENGAGED.  We CANNOT become overwhelmed and discouraged by the volume of negative news briefs.  We MUST maintain the energy we saw just after the inauguration.

With a flood of executive orders, legislation, unqualified appointees, and major shifts in policy currently emanating from the Trump-led government, Smart Dissent is here for you – breaking down the complicated policies and sifting through the lies to find truth. We want to keep you informed and involved, evolving as a community. Smart Dissent expects to meet the needs of readers; stimulating vibrant Facebook and Twitter discussions on the best ways we can assert our obligation as Americans to actively work to form a more perfect union.

Smart Dissent is not seeking to break news or be the first site to post or tweet about a new issue. Instead, Smart Dissent is a resource providing a chronological list of relevant happenings that impact our society.  All of the posts are tagged by subject matter, so you can sort issues most important to you.  It is a resource to stay informed every day OR to visit occasionally, to quickly remind yourself what’s been going on over the past weeks or months.

We commit to only using high quality, well respected sources, and to make those sources clear to the reader. Whenever possible our sources will be free of ideological slants or political motive. If you think our sourcing is biased or inaccurate, please reach out to smartdissent@gmail.com.

To contact us, please email: smartdissent@gmail.com.  We are open to ideas about how to improve the site’s content and format to better meet the needs of as many citizens as possible.
