Justice Department Seeking New Ways to Shutdown Sanctuary Cities
As more of Trump's regime get comfortable in their new positions of power for which they have little to no qualification, they find new ways to move ahead with the heinous ideas they believe the country empowered them to undertake. They spend every day crafting and implementing policies with destructive consequences for our country, our world and our future.
Sanctuary cities are seeking to protect our citizens by ignoring unjust, aggressive immigration policy changes the Justice Department is using to deport good people and destroy families.
The Justice Department is quietly exploring new legal theories to take on so-called sanctuary cities in court, working to force them to aid the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation effort DOJ is developing legal strategies to cancel out sanctuary cities across the country. The goal for DOJ would be to effectively force cities to comply with federal officials
The following measures are cited in the Wall Street Journal report:
1) Justice officials argue that local police departments refusing to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement illegally pre-empts federal law.
2) Municipalities refusing to comply with ICE are discriminating against ICE because those cities honor requests from other federal agencies, like the FBI.
3) Seek friendly court circuits to present cases against sanctuary cities and as Trump fills more vacancies on federal courts, the DOJ’s chances of securing a legal victory will improve
