ACTION: Donate to ACLU in Response to Jeff Sessions Confirmation

Jeff Sessions, one of the most conservative Republicans in the Senate and an early supporter of Trump, was confirmed as Attorney General by a 52-47 vote on Wednesday.  Sessions shares Trump's anti-immigration views and will play a leading role in defending the immigration and travel ban in the courts.  Sessions has called the ACLU "un-American."

ACTION: Donate to the ACLU to show the Adminstration and Senate what you think about Sessions' confirmation.  The ACLU will be busier than ever serving as a leader in fighting for our rights.  There is an ACLU link on the Smart Dissent main page.  

During the past month, Democrats have brought up the past allegations of racism against Sessions, which sank his nomination by President Ronald Reagan three decades ago to be a federal judge. The then-U.S. attorney admitted he had made insensitive remarks and called some top civil rights groups such as the ACLU "un-American."
