For the time being, let's briefly address the facts and reactions to the United States being pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord. We will follow up soon with another post discussing what this means for the U.S. and for the 195 nations who signed the agreement.

Scott Pruitt has called for the dissolution of much of the EPA's authority yet now runs the Environmental Protection Agency. He is a seasoned legal opponent of the agency and is unfortunately an effective tool for Trump's efforts to dismantle regulations on climate change and clean water and "get rid" of the agency. In general, Pruitt and the administration are waging a war against science, safety, and common sense in order to benefit their favored corporate interests.

Anti-poverty advocates have vowed to fight the proposed budget plan for good reason. It's devastating blow to millions of low income people throughout the country. It's a shockingly transparent effort to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and increase defense spending. Most importantly, we all must engage in Smart Dissent because budgets are drafted and approved by Congress, not the President. It's crucial to be aware of what the White House is proposing and let Congress know it is not acceptable.

The White House signed an second Muslim Ban executive order on March 6th intending to achieve the same effects as the first one which was rejected. The second one was also rejected on March 15th.
