New Executive Order is Next Step in Bannon's "Destruction of the Administrative State"
The White House signed an executive order on Monday aiming to "reorganize" the executive branch of government. Titled the "Comprehensive Plan For Reorganizing The Executive Branch," the order seeks to empower the president and his advisers to eliminate federal agencies. Essentially, we have the "destruction of the administrative state" words Steve Bannon used several weeks ago put into direct action.
The individual tasked with the evaluation of the suitability of federal agencies to continue to operate is Mick Mulvaney, one of the chief architects of the 2013 government shutdown and one of the first Tea Party individuals elected to office to oppose President Obama.
Sec 2. (c) Within 180 days after the closing date for the submission of suggestions pursuant to subsection (b) of this section, the Director shall submit to the President a proposed plan to reorganize the executive branch in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of agencies. The proposed plan shall include, as appropriate, recommendations to eliminate unnecessary agencies, components of agencies, and agency programs, and to merge functions.
