Gerrymandering Is Really, Really, Really Important. We Must Win Back State Legislatures and Judges
The title above states the obvious. We simply wanted to put this into a post and share it thousands of times via twitter to remind everyone and perhaps educate a few along the way.
Republicans rely on gerrymandering as the only way for their to maintain minority rule. And by minority, we mean there's less Republicans than Democrats. We aren't referring to minorities in the traditional sense.
Just remember this: You don’t have to rely on gerrymandering and voter suppression if your party actually represents the views of the American people. The GOP knows that if they don’t cheat they can’t win.
That is as clear an encapsulation of the effects of gerrymandering as you’ll find in graphical form:

As far as the Supreme Court ruling is concerned:
This is an absolutely insane opinion by Roberts, saying that no matter how extreme partisan gerrymandering is, courts can't strike them down. Will give a green light to even more extreme gerrymandering in next round of redistricting after 2020

Kagan's dissent opens: "For the first time ever, this Court refuses to remedy a constitutional violation because it thinks the task beyond judicial capabilities." In the last graf: "The practices challenged in these cases imperil our system of government." https://t.co/rMRbLnv3hF

If Democrats don’t win back state legislative chambers with overwhelming majorities, we are permanently screwed, no matter who wins the White House. Candidate recruitment is happening NOW: grassrootsredistrictingproject.org
